Manuscript proofreading and copy-editing comprises the backbone of my work. I have been editing books for the past 15 years. I work on any genre, be it fiction, nonfiction, children's books, poetry, academic research papers, etc.
Most of my clients are publishers and independent authors. Did you know that many publishers and literary agents will not even consider looking at a manuscript unless it has been professionally proofread? Even if you decide to self-publish your book, it is worth the small investment of having your manuscript proofread and edited. Why dedicate so much of your valuable time in writing your novel or short story, invest money to have it printed, and finally take pleasure in seeing your book in its final form on a bookshelf, only for your readers to spot embarrassing mistakes and typos that could so easily have been picked up? Proofreading can eliminate all these embarrassing errors.
As a copy-editor (rather than simply a proofreader), I will do a line by line edit of your manuscript, correct your grammar, and reconstruct badly written sentences. A client will often say to me "I'll leave it up to you - just do what you feel is best" - and that's what I will do! Sometimes, a manuscript will be very heavily edited, but in all cases the client is very pleased with the end result. However, I will respect the author's voice and written style and will never alter the context.
All manuscript copy-editing is carried out by myself and will never be passed out to other freelancers on my behalf or any other third party. All work is treated with 100% confidentiality.
If you would like to submit some work to be proofread, or if you would like a quote, then please send me your document, or just a few pages or a chapter, in Word format to firstname.lastname@example.org
